The Skinflicks – Let’s ‘ave It!

The Skinflicks are back, and they’ve doubled down. Following their triumphant 2021 comeback Old Dogs, New Tricks, the Luxembourg-based Oi! veterans have unleashed Let’s ‘ave It!—a hard-hitting declaration of defiance, resilience, and raw street-level energy. If their return a few years ago signaled a revitalization, this new album is a full-blown onslaught.

From the opening battle cry of “This Is the Crew,” the band lays down a gauntlet of old-school, brick-wall Oi! that’s as uncompromising as it is infectious. Tracks like “Boots & Braces” and “Punk Rocker” showcase their allegiance to skinhead and streetpunk subculture while wielding massive singalong choruses. Yet, The Skinflicks have evolved—this isn’t just a nostalgia trip.

Social commentary shines through tracks like “Gentrified for Your Sins,” where Jerome’s matured vocals evoke shades of Jello Biafra, channeling both fury and finesse. “Blood and Glass” tackles domestic violence with brutal honesty, while “Tin Pot Soldiers” fires a pointed critique at online posturing. Their lyrics may still swagger with sharp wit and barroom bravado, but there’s a depth and sophistication here that sets Let’s ‘ave It! apart from their earlier material.

Production-wise, the album is a triumph. The guitars hit like sledgehammers, the rhythms pulse with relentless precision, and the melodies—though never soft—act as an integral, unshakable foundation. The Skinflicks have found a balance between aggression and accessibility, proving that melody doesn’t dilute power; it amplifies it.

For fans of the genre, Let’s ‘ave It! is a mandatory listen. This is Oi! at its finest—raw, real, and unapologetically alive. The Skinflicks have not only cemented their legacy but staked their claim as one of the modern titans of the scene.
